City Theatre to Receive $100,000 National Endowment for the Arts Grant

City Theatre has announced approval for an American Rescue Plan award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), a grant program which was funded to help the arts and cultural sector recover from the pandemic. City Theatre is recommended to receive $100,000 and may use this funding to preserve jobs and to fund operations and facilities, health and safety supplies, and marketing and promotional efforts to encourage attendance and participation.  

AVENUE Q Comes to the Academy Theatre Next Week

GAVROCHE, a new musical based on Victor Hugo's novel, 'Les Misérables,' with book, music, and lyrics by Bonnie Gleicher, is having its California premiere at the Idyllwild Arts Academy. Idyllwild Arts' theatre department chair, Bonnie Carpenter, is directing the production, whose cast is made up entirely of Academy theatre arts students in grades ten through twelve. GAVROCHE will run from December 3rd-5th.

PIPPIN Will Be Performed by Interlochen Arts Academy This Week

Parallel 45 Theatre and Interlochen Center for the Arts are embarking on their official partnership with a contemporary twist on L.M. Montgomery's beloved novel, Anne of Green Gables. Of Green Gables, an abstract exploration of the classic story, is directed by Parallel 45's Shelby Lewis and will feature Interlochen Arts Academy theatre students at Interlochen's Phoenix Theatre on Thursday, March 12; Friday, March 13; and Saturday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m., with an additional performance March 14 at 2 p.m. Admission is free and tickets are not needed.
